I was in prison, and you visited me, showing kindness and compassion.
— Matthew 25:36
Prison is often a place of despair, yet it can also be a setting for profound transformation. Jesus reminds us that when we care for the imprisoned, we are serving Him directly. This underscores the importance of compassion and empathy in our faith journey. In the Bible, we see examples like Joseph, who, despite his imprisonment, remained faithful and was later used by God to save many. Our prayers and support can offer hope to those who feel forgotten. We are called to remember that everyone is made in God's image, and through love and forgiveness, we can help others discover their worth and potential for redemption. The Apostle Paul also encourages us to remember those in prison as if we were there with them (Hebrews 13:3). By extending our hearts and hands to the incarcerated, we not only fulfill Christ's command but also reflect His mercy and grace in a broken world.
