Blessed are those who deeply desire righteousness, for they will be filled and satisfied.
— Matthew 5:6
Hunger is not just a physical need; it encompasses deeper spiritual and emotional voids as well. When Jesus spoke about those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, He highlighted our innate desire for justice, peace, and fulfillment in Him. This longing drives us to seek not only our own needs but also the needs of our brothers and sisters. Scripture reminds us of our calling to care for the poor and marginalized (Proverbs 19:17), teaching us that serving others is akin to serving Christ Himself. In John 6:35, Jesus declares Himself the Bread of Life, offering sustenance that nourishes our souls. As we address the physical hunger in our communities, we should also strive to share the spiritual nourishment found in our faith. By recognizing and responding to both needs, we fulfill our Christian duty to love and serve, embodying the very essence of Christ’s teachings in our lives.
