For when I was in need, you welcomed me and offered me care.
— Matthew 25:35
In our journey of faith, we are reminded that our actions towards others reflect our love for God. The Bible teaches us that caring for the needy is not just a duty but a profound expression of our faith. When we reach out to those who are homeless, we embody the love of Christ, who Himself identified with the marginalized. Jesus emphasized that in serving those in need, we serve Him directly. This call to action is echoed throughout Scripture, where we are urged to care for the poor and vulnerable. For instance, in Isaiah, God expresses His desire for us to loose the chains of injustice and provide for the hungry. Furthermore, in James, we learn that true religion is characterized by looking after orphans and widows. By opening our hearts and hands, we not only fulfill our Christian duty but also create a community anchored in love and compassion.
