How long, Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? I feel lost in my thoughts and troubled by my sorrow.
— Psalm 13:1-2
When we find ourselves in seasons of silence, it can feel as if God has turned away. Yet, scripture teaches us that God is always present, even when we don't sense Him. In times of distress, we can reflect on the promise that God loves us unconditionally and is near the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Just as Jesus felt forsaken on the cross, He understands our anguish and invites us to lay our burdens at His feet (Matthew 11:28-30). Silence does not mean absence; rather, it can be an opportunity for deeper faith and reliance on God's character. We are encouraged to persevere in prayer, trusting that God is attentive to our cries (1 Peter 5:7). In these moments, we can seek the stillness and allow God to nurture our souls, transforming our doubts into trust. Ultimately, it's in the quiet that we may discover the depths of His love and the promise of His faithfulness.
