Lent Prayer

Joel 2:12

Return to me with all your heart, with genuine sorrow and a desire for change.

— Joel 2:12

Heavenly Father, as we enter this sacred season of Lent, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your presence and guidance. You call us to return to You with all our hearts, and we respond with gratitude for Your endless love and mercy. Help us to turn away from distractions and temptations, and draw us closer to Your embrace. May this time of reflection and repentance renew our spirits and deepen our faith. Teach us to fast not just from food, but from the things that separate us from You, that we may grow in love and compassion for others. Lord, fill us with the strength to resist sin and to seek Your light in the darkness. We thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son, who paved the way for our redemption. May our hearts be transformed this Lent, as we journey closer to You. Amen.

Lent is a profound opportunity for spiritual renewal, inviting us to reflect deeply on our lives and our relationship with God. In this season of repentance, we are reminded of the importance of returning to God with sincerity and humility, as emphasized in Joel 2:12. It’s a time to examine our hearts and recognize the areas where we need God's grace. As we fast and pray, we not only seek to distance ourselves from sin but also to draw nearer to God’s love and purpose for our lives. The call to repentance is echoed throughout Scripture, as seen in 2 Chronicles 7:14, where God promises healing and restoration to those who seek Him earnestly. In this journey, we can find solace in Psalm 51, which speaks of a contrite heart being pleasing to God. As we embrace this Lenten season, let us remember that true transformation comes when we surrender our hearts entirely to Him.
