Prayer for Eating Disorder

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Your body is a sacred space, belonging to God, and you are called to honor it, for it is a gift and a reflection of His creation.

— 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heavy heart, seeking Your grace and healing. I acknowledge that my body is a temple, a gift from You, and I long to honor it as such. Lord, please help me to see myself through Your eyes, with love and compassion. Free me from the chains of insecurity and the burden of comparison. Fill my heart with Your truth, that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Give me strength to nourish my body and spirit, embracing the gift of food as a means of sustenance and joy. Surround me with Your peace, guiding my thoughts and actions towards health and wholeness. May I find comfort in Your presence and trust in Your plan for my life. Thank You for Your unfailing love and support. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.

Eating disorders often stem from a deep-seated struggle with self-worth and identity. In a world that can be unforgiving and critical, it’s easy to forget that our bodies are not merely vessels for appearance but sacred gifts from God. The Bible teaches that we are created in His image, and this truth invites us to view ourselves with dignity and grace. When we remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, we are called to care for them, not just physically but spiritually, too. This means embracing food as a source of nourishment rather than a source of shame. In Philippians, we learn to focus on what is true and lovely, which includes acknowledging our worth beyond appearance. Moreover, God's promise in 1 Peter assures us that we are chosen, cherished, and valued. Finding healing requires surrendering our struggles to Him, trusting in His goodness, and allowing His love to transform our hearts and minds.
