Why am I feeling downcast and troubled within me? I will put my hope in God, for He is my Savior and my joy.
— Psalm 42:11
Depression can feel isolating, but as Christians, we find comfort in the truth that God is with us in our struggles. Just as the psalmist expresses a deep longing for God, we too can bring our feelings of sadness and despair to Him. In times of trouble, we can remember that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in our times of need (Psalm 46:1). The Lord invites us to cast our burdens upon Him, promising to sustain us (Psalm 55:22). It’s important to acknowledge our feelings and seek support, both from God and from those around us. Prayer is a powerful tool that connects us with our Creator and helps us to release our burdens. Through prayer, we can experience God's peace, which guards our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:6-7). Embracing vulnerability before God allows His love to heal and restore us, granting us hope in the midst of despair.
