Why am I feeling so down and troubled? I will put my hope in God, for He is my source of joy and strength.
— Psalm 42:11
Depression can feel like a deep, dark pit, isolating us from the joy and peace that God desires for us. In these moments, it is crucial to remember that we are not alone; God walks with us even in our darkest valleys. The psalmist expresses this struggle vividly, reminding us to hope in the Lord and to remember His goodness. When we are downcast, we can cling to the promise that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). It is in prayer and earnest seeking of God that we can find solace and restoration. Jesus invites us to cast our burdens on Him, assuring us that His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). By surrendering our pain to Him, we open ourselves to His healing touch and the comfort that comes from His Spirit. Let us continually seek Him, trusting that He will uplift our spirits and renew our hope.
